History has a very unique way of repeating itself. Almost two hundred years ago, a new, John set anchor on the shores of the Eastern Cape. John had no idea what he had gotten himself into when he strode across the sands to the edge of the wood - where he encountered a very strange looking man of a most peculiar darker hue than that to which he was accustomed. He found it stranger still that this man seemed to be wearing nothing more than a loin-cloth, and clutched his spear very close to his chest as though cautious that the approaching strangers. Little did he know at that time that his world and that of the natives would soon encounter drastic changes through some of the most ferocious battles over land, identity and freedom.
Almost two hundred years later, I find myself in the same situation John was in; being a stranger in a whole new world, with very little in common with the natives and engaged in constant clashes over space, identity and right of way.
